Seeking counsel is a bold step, which can begin a process of great change and positive growth.  Most people feel an immediate sense of relief at no longer having to carry their burdens alone, and a sense of renewed hope that life can improve.  Finding the right therapist for you is an important part of having a successful outcome, no therapist is perfect for every situation.  I invite you to look through this website to see if you think that my focus, experience and philosophy fit with your needs. 

My focus includes relational work (whether seeing couples/families or seeing an individual struggling with an important relationship); helping people through major life transitions (moves, births, deaths, marriages, divorces, job or relationship loss, etc); parenting support; and working with the gifted population, who often need additional emotional support and understanding.  My work with the gifted includes helping with common issues such as anxiety, sensory processing disorders, intensities, perfectionism and disorganization.  My strengths include creating extreme safety for all participants through an atmosphere of non-judgmental compassion while providing a depth of insight that brings new perspective to your situation.  My approach is collaborative as my belief is that my job is to make it possible for you to find your own inner wisdom and clarity in order to effect the change you want in your life.

My therapeutic work draws from a variety of theoretical orientations, including:

  • Emotion-Focused Therapy, which uncovers underlying causes for recurring emotional reactions in relationships in order to develop greater understanding and empathy which can result in real change.
  • Lifespan Integration Therapy, which is a gentle, body-based therapy working on rewiring the neural networks through active imagination and the juxtaposition of ego states in time to heal from past traumas and/or neglect.  LI allows people to begin responding in age-appropriate ways to current stressors and relationship patterns.
  • Family of Origin Therapy, which examines patterns learned while growing up, and works on boundaries to better balance individual and relational needs.
  • Internal Family Systems Therapy, which helps you find your center (access your inner wisdom) in ways that enable you to start actually moving towards positive goals in your life.

My work tends to go deep.  Many families, couples or individuals come to me when they can't understand why the skills and tools they have learned in classes or other therapeutic settings aren't working for them.  Together, we find the underlying reasons, heal the wounds and get to a place where those tools can begin to be effective.  If you think I may be of help to you, and wish to learn more, please go ahead and contact me.  My goal is to assist you in finding the help that you need, so I would be happy to talk with you by phone or email to assess what solutions might be best for your particular situation, whether they include my services or not.
